GRAVEL CYCLING RACE
CHEVIOT
East Coast Gravel, presented by Specialized, is a gravel cycling race on Saturday 14 March 2026 in Cheviot, North Canterbury. Riders will compete over two different course options, covering either 118km or 74km across gravel roads that follow the beautiful Hurunui coastline south to Motunau before returning to finish in Cheviot. 2026 will be the second edition of this event, which provides the perfect blend of unknown roads, stunning vistas and the crunch of gravel beneath tyres for any cycling enthusiast.
Gravel cycling is the hottest form of racing and is beginning to take off in New Zealand, with many new gravel cycling events popping up. East Coast Gravel represents the synergy between all cycling disciplines and rewards riders who have great base fitness, strong bike handling skills and a sense of adventure. The event has been curated for all abilities, with the shorter course option providing all of the same roads and views as the original course, over a more manageable distance.
