Amberley Area Cycle Trail

Staring near the Old Leithfield Hotel the trail route to Amberley involves a crossing of the Kowai riverbed, normally dry …. unless wet! The trail then passes through a scenic farm, popping you out at the south end of Stockdills Rd. Continue on this unsealed road, turning right onto Grays Rd, then past the New Recycling /Transfer Station, ending your journey at the corner of State Highway 1 and Grays Rd.

Amberley Recreation Reserve

Amberley Recreation Reserve is Amberley’s main recreation area with it’s large Pavilion (also known as the Tin Shed) and grounds for tennis, netball, rugby, squash and bowls. The Amberley Swimming Pool is situated in the Reserve, plus has a 1.3km loop trail, perfect for walking and running. The reserve also has a large dog friendly area.

Amberley Wetlands Walkway

Head out on this 6.0-km out-and-back trail near Amberley, Canterbury. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 1 h 17 min to complete. This trail is great for hiking and walking, and it’s unlikely you’ll encounter many other people while exploring. There are mountain views to the north and south, with Amberley Beach just a minute down the road. The beach has a seemingly endless coastline and is an excellent place for a stroll.

MainPower Amberley Swimming Pool

The Amberley Swimming Pool is a 5 lane, public swimming pool situated at the entrance of the Amberley Reserve, on Douglas Road. Although the pool is not heated, it does have a polyethylene roof. The pool is located next to the Amberley Domain and tennis courts. Our swimming school offers swimming lessons for people of all ages and abilities. Our close knit team of staff are highly trained by swimming New Zealand and are all up to date with industry qualifications. We understand the importance that swimming has on every New Zealander. At the Amberley swimming school we feel that swimming is a skill that needs to be acquired by all to ensure that everyone is safe in the water.

Discover this 5.1-km out-and-back trail near Amberley, Canterbury. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 2 hours 6 minutes to complete. This is a popular trail for hiking and walking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a lead.

Tiromoana Bush Walkway

The Tiromoana Bush Walkway is a great way to experience being in a regenerating native forest complete with ponds, wetlands, and native birds as your companions. The Walkway travels through open farmland with sweeping views over the forest and the coastline to Pegasus Bay, Motunau Island and the Pacific Ocean. Walking the complete loop track takes approximately 3 hours.
